1. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
(A) Essential:
I) Educational/Academic Qualifications for the post of Scientist El
Post Graduate degree in engineering in any one of the following specialization or any other relevant specialization as may be specaied -according to requirement:
Water Resources/Hydrology/Hydraulics/ Irrigation/Soil & Water Conservation/Environmental Engineering/Remote Sensing Applications in Hydrology AND having B.E./B.Tech. degree or equivalent either in Civil, Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering; OR
Ph.D. in Physics/Chemistry/Earth Science/Environmental Sciences/Hydrology or related areas with specialization in any one of the following areas or arty other relevant area as may be specified according to requirernent:
Instrurnentation/Geohydrology/Hydrogeology/Wateir Ouality/Hydro-meteorology/Nuclear Hydrology/ Remote Sensing Applications in Hydrology or any other relevant area. Discipline in which the candidate should have M.Sc. degree may be prescribed from among related subjects and will normally be in Physics /Chemistry/Hydrology/Earth Science/Environmental Sciences/ Meteorology or any other related subject.
ii) Experience for the post of Scientist El:
At least 10 years experience in teaching/research/design/planning and investigation in the area .of hydrology and water resources out of which at least 5 years must be at Scientist C or equivalent level (Grade pay Fis.66001- or equivalent) with proven ability of conducting research and with experience in handling applied research problems in the relevant areas of Hydrology and Water Resources.
(B) Desirable:
1.Higher specialization in hydrology and water resources with Ph.D. in Engineering for Engineering Post Graduates and Post Doctoral Work for Ph.D. in Sciences.
- Publications in reputed National and International journals dealing with hydrology and water resources.
Note: 1. The requirement regarding experience is relaxable at the discretion of Screening Committee in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC, if at any stage of selection, the relevant Committee is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from these communities possessing the requisite qualifications are Oct likely lobe available to fill up the posts reserved for them.
2. Screening Committee can exercise discretion regarding fulfillment of experience criteria in the specified pay scales, and equivalence of pay scales.
3. For an engineering Post Graduate holding a Ph.D. degree in Engineering the time spent on Ph 0. shall be considered as research experience upto a maximum of three years, DEPUTATION (including short-term contract):
Officers from the Central or State Goats.! Public Sector Undertakings/ Semi Govts./ Autonomous or Statutory organizations/ Universities/recognized Research Institutions or Councils.
a) Holding analogous posts on regular basis and with at least 5 years of regular service in the pay band PB-2 Rs. 15600-39100 plus 66001- as grade pay or equivalent.
b) Possessing educational qualification as prescribed for direct recruits and should have at least 10 years experience in teaching / research/ design/ planning and investigations in the area of hydrology and water resources with proven ability of conducting and guiding research and with experience in handling applied research problems in the relevant area of hydrology and water resources_
(Period of deputation including period of deputation in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization / department of the Central Govt shall ordinarily vary from one to three years but shall not exceed five years.) 2. (A) Essential:
i) Educational/Academic Qualifications for the post of Scientist C
Post Graduate degree in Engineering in any one of the following specialization or any other relevant specialization as may be specified according to requirement:
Water Resources/ Hydrology/Hydraulics / Irrigation/ Soil & Water Conservation/ Environmental Engg./Remote Sensing Applications in Hydrology AND having B.E./B.Tech. Degree or equivalent either in Civil., Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering; OR

Computer / Instrumentation / Geohydology / Hydrogeology /Water Quality/Hydro Meteorology/ Nuclear Hydrology/Remote Sensing Applications in Hydrology or any other relevant area. Discipline in which the candidate should have_M.Sc. degree may be prescribed from among related subjects and will normally be in Physics/Chemistry/Hydrology/Earth Science/Environmental Sciences / Meteorology or any other related subject.
ii) Experience for the post of Scientist C
At least 5 years experience in teachingdesearch/desigreplanning"and investigation in the area of hydrology and water resources out of which at least Spears most be at Scientist B or equivalent level (pay band of Rs. 15600-39100 plus grade pay of Rs.5400/- or equivalent) with proven ability of conducting research and with experience in handling applied research problems in the relevant areas of hydrology and water resources.
(B) Desirable: 1. Higher specialization in hydrology & water resources with Ph.D. in Engineering for engineering Post GradUates and Post Doctoral Work for Ph.D. in Sciences.
2. Publications in reputed National and International journals dealing with hydrology and water resources.
Note:

Officers from the Central or Slate Govt./ Public Sector Undertakings/ Semi Govts,/ Autonomous or Statutory organizations/ Universities/Recognized Research Institutions Of Councils.
a) Holding analogous posts on regular basis and with 5 years ot regular service in the pay bands PB-2 Rs. 15600-39100 plus Rs. 54001- or equivalent.
b) Possessing educational qualification as prescribed for direct recruits and should have at least 5 years experience in teaching/research/design planning arid investigation in the area of hydrology and water resources with proven ability of conducting and guiding research and with experience in handling applied research problems in the relevant area of hydrology and water resources. (Period of deputation including period of deputation in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization/department of the Central Govt. shall ordinarily vary from one to three years but shall not exceed five years). 3. a) Essential Educational/ Academic Qualifications for the post of Scientist B Post Graduate degree in Engineering in any one of the following specialization or any other relevant specialization as may be specified according to requirement:

Ph.D. in Physics/Chemistry/Earth Science / Environmental Sciences/ Hydrology or related areas with specialization in anyone of the following areas or any other relevant areas as may be specified according to requirement:
Instrumentation/Geohydrology/Hydrogeology/Water Quality/Hydro-meteorology/ Nuclear Hydrology/ Remote Sensing Applications in Hydrology/ Computer Science or any other relevant area. Discipline in which the candidate should have M.Sc. degree may be prescribed from among related subjects and will normally be in Physics/Chemistry/Hydrology/Earth Science/ Environmental Sciences/Meteorology or any other related subject.
b) Desirable:
1. Higher specialization in hydrology & water resources with Ph.D. in Engineering for engineering post graduates and Post Doctoral Work for Ph.D. in Sciences.
- Publications in reputed National & International journals dealing with hydrology and water resources.
Appointment on deputation will be on Foreign Service terms for a period of 3 years. The pay of officers selected for deputation will be regulated in accordance with the provisions contained in DOPT O.M. No. 6/08/2009-Estt(Pay-II) dated 17.6.2010.
GENERAL CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
1. All the above posts carry usual pay & allowances as admissible under the Central Government Rules. The NPS is available in the Institute for employees, who joins after 1.1.2004.
2, Age will be relaxed for persons already in service in the Institute and other.Govt./Semi-Govt/ Autonomous organizations as well as candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC community and physically handieapped persons, as per Govt. of India Rules.
- In case of candidates already employed, the forwarding authority should certify that the particulars furnished by the officer are correct and that no disciplinary or vigilance case is either pending or contemplated against the officer. Up-to-date annual confidential report dossiers of the applicants should also be sent when requested by the National Institute of Hydrology. It may also be confirmed that in the event of selection for the appointment, the officer concerned will be relieved of his duties as and when requested. The integrity of the officer should also be certified.
4. Candidates already employed in Government/ Semi-Govt./ Autonomous Bodies should apply through proper channel. Applications not forwarded through proper channel will not be considered.
5. Candidates applying for more than one post should submit separate application for each post along with required fees in the form of separate Demand Draft.
6. If the number of candidates is too large, considering the number of vacancies to be filled for a particular post, the Institute reserve the right to short-list the candidates to be called for interview based on the eligibility criteria decided by the Screening Committee.
